KIRKUS REVIEW

The selections are suited to the interests of this age group and the retellings of these passages from Herodotus retain the classic simplicity of style. The book contains a taste of all that Herodotus holds -- legends, anecdotes of the Persian Wars, and the off-beat facts that fed the first historian's insatiable curiosity. The white and black drawings of Enrico Arno are especially fine and follow the text in the manner of a Greek frieze. An excellent supplement to Ancient History study units.
