PAYDIRT by Glen Rounds

Glen Rounds has a good ear. Whether he writes of lumberjacks or miners, he strikes a note of authority in his dialogue and his descriptions of the life, the technique of the calling, etc. seem authentic. This is a story of two prospectors, driven from the dust bowl and the failure of the farm to gold mining in the hills. The old miner is a good character study -- the youth serves as a foil.
