LONE MUSKRAT

A naturalist whose stories and splendid, active pictures of animals and countryside need little introduction, writes and illustrates a hardy account of a muskrat's winter. Routed from his home by a forest fire the Old Muskrat must seek a new pond. He finds one not too far away, and with it, encounters all the dangers he must battle and outwit to out his new existence. By the icebound winter's end, after fights with eagle, weasle, bobcat and wolf, the Old Muskrat has met a new group of muskrats, and you know every square inch of his pond, as does he, who's become a real hero.
