DID YOU HEAR WHAT HAPPENED TO ANDREA?

What happens is rape, when Andrea hitchhikes against her mother's warnings, and the rest of this is about her reactions and those of her family, friends, and boyfriend. Mom doesn't want to face what happened, Dad is bent on revenge, the girls at school are nosey--but boyfriend David, upset and gulity at first (he had left her in the stranger's car), becomes a model of understanding and patience. Andrea's fears, revulsion, and conflict over pressing charges are believable and unsensationally handled, but the story never becomes more than an airing of the problem.
