KIRKUS REVIEW

A collection of contemporary short stories, authored in the main, by writers who have a book or more to their credit, although none have achieved too wide familiarity. From Ciro Alegria's touching story of the killing of a mother monkey, to Rhys Davies' thwarted trumpeter, others included are Welsh Cledwyn Hughes, Russian Ilya Ehrenburg, English Gerald Kersh and Denton Welch, American Irwin Shaw, and Chinese Lau Shaw, and many others. Representative representation of newer names of international, intellectual distinction..not necessarily big sales names in times when the market seems surfeited with anthologies.
