JUST A BOX? by Goldie Taub Chernoff

A salt or sugar box can become a dickey bird, a toothpaste box an alligator or a canoe, a milk carton or tissue box a boat, an oatmeal box a doll's cradle, an assortment of boxes a totem pole or a village. There are some further suggestions for making more zoo animals or doll house furniture or a train -- just 24 pages in all, including the abbreviated directions and standard illustrations in solid blocks of construction paper color. Sattler's Kitchen Carton Crafts (KR, 1970) is just one of many fuller explorations of a container's possibilities, but the price of this one makes it worth considering for craft loaders seeking undemanding projects on the level of the same author and artist's Puppet Party (KR, 1972) and Pebbles and Pods (KR, p. 388, J-118).
