THE BOOK OF LITTLE KNOWLEDGE

By

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Easy aces for that imminent critic and comedian who turns up in the Saturday Review as prosecuting and defense attorney for that far from plaintive defendant, TV. His poison pen love letters gathered into a prickly bouquet broach such subjects as the position of the writer (a dirty word), commercials (let's have honor commercials urging viewers to buy out of gratitude for the program), ratings (he'd like to say something nice about surveys, but he can't), politics (let's look in on Mr. Lincoln preparing for the Gettysburg Address over the airwaves), programs and people (Groucho on Fifth Avenue, that new star, Jack Benny, etc.), the audience (how about having two sets to save spats). For all those with love on one hand and hate on the other -- all those slightly uncomfortable in their captivity.
