MYSTERY OF THE LOST CANYON

Pub Date: Feb. 11th, 1962

Another adventure book for boys by a proven expert in the field, this follows the tortuous trails of Lake Mead, penetrating the crevices and canyons of the surrounding Nevada terrain, as Jerry Hunter, senior in high school, and his two buddies set out in search of Jerry's missing uncle, who vanished several years before in a storm. Since Uncle Chuck was more at home in the Lake Mead region than anywhere else in the world, his strange disappearance had always puzzled Jerry. It seemed more likely that the hidden treasure the man was after would contain the answer. As the boys board the Huntress, their outboard motor boat and means of transportation, they never dream that mystery and adventure await them at every turn of their precarious journey. From the eerieness of shadowy figures lurching in the background to the escapades of three persistent females who follow, the trip moves forward with excitement and deepening mystery. The solution to his uncle's disappearance and the discovery of Lost Canyon create a fitting climax to another Shirreffs' treat.
