PETER JUMPING HORSE AT THE STAMPEDE

A sequel to Peter Jumping Horse (1961, p. 786 J-264), this again recounts the adventures of the Ojibway Indians of Loon Bay, Canada -- particularly of Peter, his brother Brick and their animated 82 year-old Big Grannie. The plot centers on an invitation Granule receives to attend the Calgary Stampede festival in western Canada. With ""trousseau"", and Peter and Brick in tow, she boards the bush plane to find that her reputation has followed her the full distance. Grannie has been assigned a bodyguard -- Mrs. Red Hot Standing Iron but even this formidable creature cannot prevent Grannie from riding a bucking bronco (not really wild), meeting a genuine princess and creating her own kind of ballyhoo. These humorous antics plus the spectacle of an unusual rodeo celebration insure an even wider audience than the first story.
