Bob Dunbar and Gary Lunt (who Seem to be the veterans of several books now out of Print) are suckers for their sub the Grayfin and the most rabid volunteers for any kind of special duty. It's World War II and they're out tracing a mystery submarine in the Pacific; volunteering puts Bob and Gary on the sub Scalare when she's sinking and on a small boat espionage mission--always where the shooting is. The mystery boat turns out to be German and they sink 'er. Mostly ups and downs--action long and confusing, characters faceless--standard war fare.
