KIRKUS REVIEW

The epics of the zeppelins and the biography of their greatest commander and enthusiast, Hugo Eckener contribute to an absorbing book. Eckener, caught Count Zeppelin's enthusiasm for the dirigible balloons he was developing when the two met in 1899. He became an authority and helped to develop the war-dirigibles of World War I. With the holocaust of the giant Hindenberg in New Jersey, the hydrogen-helium hope ended.
