KIRKUS REVIEW

An intense novel of a hazardous wartime assignment called ""Operation Gooseberry"" which involved American merchant seamen and navy personnel from many walks of life. The ""gooseberries"" were loaded with explosives designed to be blown up on ""the far shore"" and as the men sail under sealed orders there is the full share of their problems and anxieties- artfully portrayed.
