KIRKUS REVIEW

This really belongs in several categories, because it is not just an ordinary alphabet book, but one in which the letters, standing as they do for Biblical characters or subjects, refer to words quite difficult for the young child, like shepherd, Prodigal Son, Israel, Elijah, and so on. With parent help it could be used by the smaller ones; it would also be useful to Sunday school teachers, and the six-year-olds would use it on their own. The one-sentence text pages are dignified; the drawings charming and simple.
