The author's plan here is to expand the bridge between English and American children and their interests in what promises to be a likeable series. When Granny's invitation came to the Edwards family- Mother and Father, Lucy (9) and John (11),- to visit America, Lucy was determined that they should go in spite of the fact that money was a large problem. So Lucy's League, a secret society for Lucy and John, was inaugurated to save money. A prize, a present from Mrs. Edwards' publisher, a position in America for father, and a reward for unselfishness and good behavior for Lucy make the trip possible. School activities, jolly friends and family fun add to the general air of little girl excitement.
