A couple of removes above pop romance this pleasing story of Kari's love for English Jeff which survived even the reports of his death in action. Kari finds her hardwon peace through her job in a flowershop, her small circle of friends and through finding the best in the people she meets. With two beaux to see her through, she still waits for definite proof that Jeff is gone, and it is an old friend from her Western Canadian home who brings her the news of Jeff's escape from death, his safety and the scarring and maiming he has undergone. Kari, with plans for the future, leaves to join Jeff in England. A bit more than surface storytelling, this gives some picture of the problems and situations in Canada during the war years, adds a touch of spiritual values to its story. Excellent for conservatives.
