A novel with a message, so patent on the face of it that one wonders how even the G.L.H. addicts can swallow it. It is the story of a family feud, which is ultimately reconciled through the consistent sweetness and faith of a young American girl who comes to Scotland on a visit to her relatives, and who emerges untrammeled from the evil influences to which she is exposed. There is an old grandmother who is a saintly matriarch and reformer -- so between the two of them they win out.
