Over 200 photographs from a collection in the Museum of the City of New York tell the story of the Leghorn hat and Tiffany glass era in New York. The photographs were taken by the Byron Company, father and son, whose philosophy was that pictures should be a clear representation of the world. Accordingly the photographs are crowded with all the objects within the camera's purview, but clear. From glimpses of the waterfront, fashion, Turkish Baths, Oriental decor on the West Side, the Pride of the Bowery, cafes, yachts, slums, with textual commentary and elaboration by Miss Mayer, the Curator of Prints at the museum, we get a fascinating pictorial account of New York at the turn of the century.
