KIRKUS REVIEW

A further re-statement of his Childbirth Without Fear, which has been a steady seller since its original appearance some years ago (Harper), this gets together in book form some lectures, articles and case histories on the ""transfigured"" as against the tortured delivery. Here again is the argument that labor was not meant to be painful, that fear is the greatest cause of tension- and therefore pain, and with a discussion of the mechanism of labor, he shows how the proper education and approach can minimize pain and produce a highly satisfying experience. For believers and converts, and the success of the first indicates there are quite a few, although the material here is slim.
