KIRKUS REVIEW

Grasshoppers seem to afford little scope for an adventure story but here is an adventure story about two grasshoppers. One was ""chief"" of the tribe -- the other was a bully who wanted to take over -- and the two of them were carried away on the radiator cap of a car. Whirlaway soon found that Smarty was a coward, and, when faced with the miles of the return trip, it was Whirlaway that carried Smarty and got them out of predicaments. The content is original and entertaining, but the talking down style was hard for this adult reader to take.
