KIRKUS REVIEW

This is a thrilling story of a submarine and its young captain, ordered to pick up an American agent, deliver him to Tokyo, pick him up again and return him to Hawaii. That was the basic mission but the whole expedition was filled with spectacular events from the emergency appendectomy performed by the captain to the torpedoing of a ship being launched in Tokyo harbor, and the capture of a Japanese submarine. The book has been cleared by the Navy Department, as having bearing on actual accomplishments of American submarines. Exciting adventure, well told, good characterization and a good yarn. Interesting photographic supplement.
