KIRKUS REVIEW

Investigations among Caribbean Indian civilizations, with archaeology and anthropology as the bases. First a sketch of aerial explorations, its hazzards, results successful and otherwise, the equipment of a modern explorer in the tropics and the conduct of an expedition -- then personal experiences along the trails he has followed, which all make for good reading. Adventures and misadventures among the Indians, interpretation of past history, well highlighted and enthusiastically presented in completely non-technical fashion. For those interested in early history of the Americas, particularly in the Caribbean, and entertaining to boot.
