KIRKUS REVIEW

A 15 and 16 year old have collaborated on this story of a summer vacation in Exmoor and have, as Arthur Ransome says in his introduction, produced something to exult over. Here are the adventures, plausible and vivid, of six youngsters, who evade adult supervision, on the moors and the river, with their ponies, building a house, going to a fair, helping a charity boy out, and proving themselves in all situations resourceful and likable. They rename the countryside Sohrab and Rustum and they will appeal to boys and girls who like outdoors. You will like it too.
