KIRKUS REVIEW

The author draws upon his own background to bring forth a novel for boys grounded in real experience. Jock Burns was just a bit too cocksure of himself to watch the little details, and so he flunks out as pilot on a KC-135 Stratotanker. The second time round, he makes it giving us an opportunity for a behind-the-scenes tour of the difficult training and operation of the Strategic Air Command fueling squadron. Jock's adventures airborne or earthbound will have appeal for the masculine reader.
