KIRKUS REVIEW

Mrs. Mason runs two slimming summer camps--Camp Stanley and Camp Tahoe. ""Naturally if you could afford it and if it were not inconvenient, you might send your child to one of my camps."" If you can't, you'll just have to make do with the book which gives overall advice on why your child becomes a chubby or a husky, eliminates diets but provides the right diet and exercise, and gives specific meals (including school lunches) and weekly menus with endless pointers: enlist a confederate or form a club; tell yourself that ""spaghetti is nothing but a plate of worms""; chew sugarless gum although minimally--it stimulates the appetite. The recipes sound more alluring than they probably are but there's lots of advice suggesting that there's more than one way to skin a fat cat.
