IF WISHES WERE HEARSES

George White, East Anglia chemist, wishes a man dead- he dies and George's prowess excites his town. Another accident, and the death of a well disliked Major, and the pot's a-boiling for a local tempest. But each possibility of means, motive and opportunity is ruled out as George, the widow, her lover the doctor, a vengeful wise woman all gradually prove their innocence and the real killer goes free. The altering shapes of the pieces of the puzzle are neatly set in a believable English town and competently revealed.
