FLIVVER TO CAMBODIA: Two Boy Scouts Across Asia

Although this book deals with boy scouts, it is not the usual 12-year old adventure tale of A-1 preparedness. It is an actual record of an automobile trip from Paris to Saigon, Indo-China through Danubian countries, the Holy Land, and almost impossible terrain in India. Two French scouts (the author and his mechanical friend) who are mature enough to tipple in champagne and wear dinner clothes at Embassy soirees, participate in tiger and elephant hunts, as well as diplomatic forays with native tribesmen. The unique quality of this so-called juvenile, however, is in the sensitive descriptive writing, and the commentary on contemporary and historical affairs of the countries through which they pass. Perhaps the fact that the boys were French will be used as an alibi for the aspects that seem not to be true scouting.
