ICEBERGS AND THEIR VOYAGES by Gwen Schultz

ICEBERGS AND THEIR VOYAGES

By

Pub Date: Sept. 3rd, 1975
Publisher: Morrow

A routine report, buoyed up by a number of black and white photos of spectacular samples, on how icebergs are formed, where they are found, and the routes they travel after breaking off from their parent glaciers. Also discussed are man's as yet unsuccessful attempts to destroy the ship-threatening bergs--while others value them for ""singing"" ice cubes in beverages and, more seriously, scientists work on ways of towing them from the poles to supply coastal populations with drinking water. Schultz doesn't go into past or projected climactic changes and she deals in general only with that small proportion of her subject that protrudes above the surface.
