A NAMELESS COFFIN

Detective John Coffin is not anonymous to his readers in this series which takes place in and around South London and this time deals with an endemic knife-slasher who begins by stealing pocketbooks and ends by killing two victims. Much of Miss Butler's near-excellence is entailed in her handling of unexceptional people and the somewhat seamier circumstances of their lives, and the dossier, while it has no great physical drive, is intelligently interesting.
