KIRKUS REVIEW

Bow-on-the-Sea, a rundown section of a British resort area, supplies the setting for two murders. The Hamp family are the central characters in the plot which eventually includes what seems to be the town's whole populace. This may confuse the reader, but it doesn't faze Scotland Yard; they come up with the murderer who is the least likely suspect, in terms of revealed clues or motivation. In unsatisfying exercise in who-dun-it with a cast that might have come from Sedlam.
