WELSH LEGENDS AND FOLK TALES by Gwyn Jones

WELSH LEGENDS AND FOLK TALES

By

Publisher: Oxford

The fourth title in Oxford's Myths and Legends series is, like the others, a readable, reliable source of folk material, from Wales. For the first part of the book Gwyn Jones has retold the saga of Pwyll of Dyfed and the family that came after him when he married Riannon, and their son Pryderi grew to a manhood marked by brave deeds. Next follows the Arthur cycle and the versions of his court's life that are Welsh. Other stories, some of them more recent in character, make ten varied chapters in the last section of the book.
