THE TRUE WILDERNESS by H. A. Williams

THE TRUE WILDERNESS

These sermons--presumably delivered in chapel--by the Fellow and Dean of Trinity College. Cambridge University are now collected in book form. Discontented with simply teaching theology as external truth, the author determined to ask himself how far these truths had become part of himself. He believed preaching them would be the best way to test and to expound what he had thus discovered for himself. The subjects treated fall mainly within traditional church doctrine, and texts and incidents in the Gospels and the New Testament. In spite of the author's desire to convey his themes as personal truth for himself, the effect hardly escapes the pedestrian tone of the class-room lecture. At least, there is little to move and lift the reader--and presumably, therefore, the listener.
