The audience for this will be limited almost solely to professionals concerned with some aspect of archeology, anthropology, or some art or science touching upon the importance of such modern ""digs"" as those at Thebes which have resulted in virtual reconstruction of 11th century BC crypts, tombs, temples. These are the papers which appeared in the Metropolitan Museum Bulletin. Through them one shares the adventure of rediscovering a civilization, personalities, ways of life. One gets something of the methods and problems and occasional -- very occasional --human interest bits.
