This is a novel built around the life of Annette Droste, the 18th century German poetess, which more than confirms the brilliancy of Mr. Franck's writing. Perhaps most significant is the recreation of the life of that time, rounding out the details of Annette's family history, background, leading up to her childhood, growth and development, and culminating in her emergence as a distinguished poetess. Franck's own poetic talent lends sympathy and acumen to the interpretation. He is perhaps best remembered as the author of Trip Into Eternity.
