THE NEW AMERICA -- THE NEW WORLD

Brief-provocative -- good reading, this discussion of the hows and whys and wherefores of America's new pattern-in-the-making. But it is not only America that he presents, but Russia, Germany, Italy, France, England, and America's place in the scheme, if she only opens her eyes to the crying need of it. His comments on the figures in the limelight today, -- President Roosevelt (and his comments on the change in his own impressions of the man during an interval of twelve months are enlightening), Huey Long, Father Coughlin, the Brain Trust, -- and on the regimentation of industry and agricultural, make one keenly aware of the needs he so aptly brings to the fore, It is a challenge -- and, in spite of certain inevitable gaps of rounded knowledge, searching and just in its criticism. At this particular moment it seems especially timely.
