THE GLADIOLUS TODAY

There is surprisingly little written on gladiolus so this book fills a real gap in the garden bookshelf, though the British background must be taken into account. The author is a world authority on his subject, and writes competently of the salient factors:- the corm, what it is and how it grows; soil, care, how to cut, how to arrange. He takes the different types of gladioli, discusses the tests of quality, the species and hybrids, propagation, breeding, harvesting, storing. He goes into pests and diseases and their treatment, and the commercial as well as the home uses of gladioli. Certainly a must for the specialist and a useful reference toel for the average gardener.
