ALL-OUT ARLENE by H. I. Phillips

ALL-OUT ARLENE

A jaunty and laudatory account of a Waac, in training and service -- no great shakes though not unamusing. Arlene makes up her mind to join, tells of her companions, training, the humorous aspects of women as soldiers, officers, etc. The ups and downs of her romance with Terry, whose ""body beautiful"" does not help him get into the Army. She rescues a flier -- turns down Terry until he gets into service -- is sent out with the first Waac contingent to Africa -- has her fill of excitement -- and finally accepts Terry when he proves himself of hero stuff. This rounds out Arlene's total war contribution, with a sister in the Marines, her parents doing war work, and her dog joining up for Dogs for War.....There's sure to be a better Waac story.
