ON WHITE OR RYE: Including Some of the Deeper Speculations of Elmer Twitchell

H. I. Phillips in a daily column (N.Y. Sun -- Sun Dial) is one thing; a whole book of burlesquing life and its idiosyncrasies is a bit too much of a muchness. Certainly this is only a book for dipping into, or for refreshing the memory on some remembered bit (for example, The Madonna of the Air Shelter deserves permanent form). Elmer Twitchell, his beloved fumbler, expresses his philosophy of life, -- the Army, business, income tax, etc. All right in small doses.
