JAPAN: A WORLD PROBLEM

An Australian journalist who has spent twenty years in the Far East presents as his thesis that neither Commodore Perry nor Nazi Germany launched Japan on her career of expansion. He traces back 300 or more years to a Japan justifying conquest. But more important to our understanding of the Japanese peril in the large is his careful analysis of her megalomania, of her long-growing, deep-rooted form of risnism. He shows us a whole people regimented for centuries, accepting their testiny as super race, using methods comparable to those of Nazi Germany. In conclusion, he stresses that we must find a way after the Axis is defeated to change the psychology of Japan from a state policy of power to a policy of human welfare. The military oligarchy must be broken. Solid reading, but rewarding.
