YOUR DOG AS A HOBBY

Both authors are nationally known practical dog men, albeit there is much smoke and it seems enough fire to have caused the American Kennel Club to oust Mr. Ackerman. This is merely to warn bookshops in case customers jump on you for suggesting the book, which is exceptionally good and as it seems intended for the beginner with a pet or two, or the embryo fancier starting in the show game, there is no need to shun the author's wisdom even though we deplore his folly. Special helpful hints on making a kennel partially self-sustaining. The chapter on breeding has a particularly authoritative ring due to the international reputation enjoyed by Mr. Ackerman's ""Humberstone"" foxterriers. The title is in some respects a misnomer, suggesting a book of limited scope and appeal, for additional chapters on grooming, diet, physic, training, showing, etc., make the work a well-rounded treatise on kennel husbandry.
