THE AMATEUR SEAMAN

Skipper"" Smith knows his stuff! He also knows exactly what the amateur seaman ought to know and doesn't. He also seems to know how few books, simple, clear and concise enough to be intelligible to an amateur, are available. This book seems to answer exactly his needs. It is not a formidable mass of intricate technique but a clear handbook of information, starting from scratch with the beginner and leading him slowly through all the necessary steps to becoming a first rate amateur seaman. He never loses sight of the amateur angle, never assumes knowledge of subjects and terms without defining them. In short you'll find this a grand book to recommend to boys and beginners -- and plenty of old timers, too.
