A very good introduction to the study of astronomy, by the astronomer royal of Great Britain. Simple enough for a High School student to understand. But of special appeal to adults who have missed out on preparatory training in this subject. Written with great clarity, and extraordinary in scope and balance. Thirty-two fine photographic plates to be included. The possibilities of life on other planets discussed. Comets, meteors, star-showers; relative distances, weights, speeds and temperatures tabulated; the limits of study outlined. The history of the earth traced according to several theories, and the future history indicated. A fascinating book, even for the uninitiate.
