KIRKUS REVIEW

Here's a how-to-do-it book, based on a $3.000 a year income, for a family of three, a program of getting a lot for a little. He and his wife evolved a scheme of living, concentrating on the things they really want and letting other, to them less important things slide. Before starting in on his father's business in New York, he and his wife took $1000 and trekked off to Europe for six months. Their budgeting system was altered somewhat to include living in the suburbs and having a baby; then they moved to New York and their budgeting system still worked. They have been able to save for the vacations of travel they love, to buy a boat, to send their son to private school and to have the other things they want most without going into debt or depriving themselves of essentials. From the angle of a couple who have worked out life as they want it, on a moderate income, in practical, though personal terms, the record is intended to inspire others to make their lives fuller than the mere routine of day by day grind.
