KIRKUS REVIEW

The Orson Welles' broadcast of 1938 as the basis for a study of panic, a study of social and psychological significance. The analysis is readably handled. Complete script of the broadcast included, and a survey of immediate reactions, drawn from case histories. Major causes outlined and conclusions reached:- types who reacted hysterically, personality characteristics influencing susceptibility, social and international disorders as a factor. Interesting as a psychological study, but scarcely likely to receive wide attention outside the scientific field, as it no longer has news value. Is April Fool's Day deliberately selected as the publication date?
