PENNY: The Story of a Free-Soul Basset Hound

Most dog lovers have had or known somewhere a dog with wanderlust -- a good time Charlie who is everyone's and no one's, and this is an account by one of the devoted providers of Penny, a young spayed basset. Three families, including the Borlands, conscientiously bought Penny separate licenses; they were alternately enchanted and made miserable by her peccadillos; and before her final disappearance, quite a number of incidental admirers materialized to report the basset's activities and current location. All those who have been adopted and then discarded by an enchanting picaro will appreciate Borland's tribute and might even go along with the fantasies as to Penny's eventual fate. A slow, flop-eared ramble strictly for dog people with a low threshold for sentiment.
