ABC & 123 is one of those adequate teach-them-through- nonsense-verse books that finds a ready market in bookstores and really does accomplish its purpose -- to drill beginners in the alphabet and the initial letter sounds and to take them from 1 to towering, barely imaginable 10. The illustrations show a consistency the verse does not. In the full color pictures, the style is the same with lots to discover amusingly deployed. The verse forms go the meter gamut from limerick to heaven knows what, but separately each is chantable. Laugh and grow educated.
