NAVIGATION: Land, Sea and Sky by Hal Hellman

NAVIGATION: Land, Sea and Sky

By

Pub Date: Sept. 15th, 1966
Publisher: Prentice-Hall

The book steers a neat, easy-to-follow course through the basics of the subject. The historical development of the instruments man has developed to locate himself is traced with clear, simple explanations of why different groups tended towards special methods of navigation, and of the principles on which the tools of navigation are based. Most of the book deals with the way boats are steered, with several chapters at the end on the modern methods that have been created for safe air transport. The text is lucid, but not the illustrations--only a few indicate what the instruments described look like, and none are diagrammatic.
