THE OLD TIME COWHAND by Hamon Adams

THE OLD TIME COWHAND

ISBN: 0803259174
Publisher: Macmillan

Hitch up your hoss, Partner, and bend an ear if you want to know all about the unglamorous, though, skilled, illiterate knight of the saddle, the American cowhand. The cowboy himself, if he were to read all about himself in this compendium of the range might accuse the author of suffering from ""diarrhea of the jawbone"". The reader probably won't. Written in the dialect of the cowpoke himself, the book is a little hard to get going with at first, but get past a couple of chapters and you're off! Learn all about saddles, guns, clothing, food, cuss words, songs (they didn't play guitars half as much as harmonicas), wild stories, shoot- 'em-ups, and the like. Hear famed artist Charlie Russell himself speak. It's a worthwhile experience, and more than anything else, a sure-fire curative for people who've seen too many John Wayne Westerns.
