The tone here has the professorial drone of a typical text book, but fortunately though the author can't write he can inform. His Heredity and Human Life is a marvellously up-to-date manual of what's-new and what's-to-come in biology and genetics; on these terms it is sure to prove a boon for the campus cram-set. The listings include the inheritance paradox, the laws of chance, genetic recombination and recessiveness, the roles of mutation, inbreeding, crossbreeding and selection, the great prehistoric migrations, preventive and progressive eugenics, the recently discovered DNA, the ""mother molecule"" of us all, geographical isolates and race hybridization. Best of all author Carson clarifies the complexities of biochemist Kornberg, geneticist Muller, aleontologist Simpson and zoologists Dobzhansky and Dunn.
