Well turned story of a lady medico, of interneship in a typical city hospital, of the struggle against the stigma attached to women in medicine, of the effort to reconcile marriage and career. A strange interdependence develops between Amanda and a fellow interne and it takes an emergency to put her back on her own feet. There's a neat sufficiency of medical modus operandi combined with a genuine man-woman-equality conflict. A new type of doctor novel, well done.
