WHERE MY HEART IS

Eighteen-year-old Jill Adair, insecure from an itinerant childhood in which she, her immature stepmother, her rowdy father, and her half-sister roamed from trailer camp to trailer camp, desperately seeks stability. Stability seems to offer itself in the person of an autocratic woman and her tyrannized son, Dennis, who offers Jill marriage and prestige in the California desert town of Bixli. Jill clutches at this anchor until her discerning mind tells her that she can only live in peace ""where her heart is"", and she decides to marry another trailer gypsy, Ole, a boy who shares her intellectual interests and who offers her strength based on the security of mature love. The novel background of this story and the convincing portrayal of Jill's adolescence make this a singularly persuasive teen-age romance.
